On April 23, 2025, a person died after being shot in northeast Charlotte at the 1st & Goal bar along University City Boulevard. The shooting occurred just before 3 a.m., and the victim later died at the hospital. Police have not reported any arrests or details about what led to the shooting.

 On April 22, 2025, a notable crime involved the arrest of Jared C. Nesmith in Arcadia, New York. He unlawfully entered a victim's residence while armed with a machete and made verbal threats. Nesmith was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including Burglary 1st (B Felony), Menacing 2nd (A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony) after being located by state troopers at his residence
