Victim Dies After Being Struck In The Chest And Upper Torso

 A West Union man, 46-year-old Matthew Scott Chastain, was arrested on April 11 for allegedly beating 45-year-old William Jamie Daniel Chastain to death. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a possible cardiac arrest on Welborn Road on January 23, where they found the victim with visible bruising and injuries. According to the arrest warrant, Matthew Chastain killed the victim by striking him in the chest and upper torso. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and is being held on a $35,000 bond
